As the outcry and protests in response to the murder of George Floyd continue, the Virginia Association of Health Plans and its members stand united with people of color. African Americans in particular are hurting. When looking at disparities in health care and the impact of COVID-19 in communities of color, it is clear this country and the state of Virginia have a long way to go.
The members of VAHP, who provide healthcare coverage for millions of Virginians through commercial insurance and Medicaid, are each addressing the problems of racism and prejudice in their own way. VAHP collectively supports each in their efforts.
